Getting started

The JourneyOn practice loop

  1. Choose something specific.Pick one concrete action. Small counts, and smaller counts too.
  2. Notice the prediction.Write what your mind says will happen and, if useful, how likely it feels.
  3. Practice when you choose. The timer and in-the-moment tools are optional. Feeling calm is not required.
  4. Compare with reality.Record what happened and what you noticed. “Nothing is clear yet” is a valid answer.
  5. Keep the learning.Repeat, vary, adjust, or choose something different next time.

Frequently asked questions

Using JourneyOn

What is a practice?

A practice is one real-world action you choose to take while allowing anxiety or discomfort to come along. JourneyOn helps you record a prediction before the action and compare it with what happened afterward. JourneyOn does not choose or prescribe the action for you.

What are My Steps?

My Steps is a flexible list of things you may want to try. It is not a prescribed treatment plan or a ladder you must complete in order. Save, edit, archive, repeat, or skip steps as your circumstances change.

How do I log something I already did?

Open Practice and choose Log a past practice. Add only what you remember. A past practice counts the same, and every optional field can remain blank.

How do I repeat an earlier practice?

Open Practice and choose an item under Do again, or open a Journey entry and choose Repeat practice from its menu. You can edit the details before beginning.

What if my anxiety does not decrease?

Anxiety reduction is not required for a practice to count. JourneyOn focuses on what you chose to do, what your mind predicted, and what your experience showed. You can finish, pause, make the step smaller, or stop when needed.

Do I need to practice every day?

No. Weekly momentum is meant to notice participation without creating a daily chain to break. Returning after time away still counts.

What are the tools shown during a practice?

They are optional ACT-informed prompts for noticing thoughts, making room for feelings, returning attention to the present, and remembering why the action matters. They are not instructions for suppressing anxiety or making discomfort disappear.

Your journal

Keep, share, or remove what you choose

How do I share progress or an entry?

Open Journey and use the share button, or open You and choose Share progress. Select a date range and exactly which categories to include. Personal reflections are off by default. Preview the PDF before sharing it.

How do I delete one entry?

Open Journey → History, then swipe an entry or use its menu and choose Delete entry. JourneyOn provides a brief undo window.

How do I delete everything?

Open You → Privacy & security → Delete all data. JourneyOn shows what will be removed and requires confirmation. You can export a copy first. Because the developer does not hold your journal, deleted data cannot be restored by support.

Will version 4.0 keep my existing Exposure Journal entries?

Yes. JourneyOn 4.0 is an update to Exposure Journal, not a separate app. The update includes migration safeguards for existing journal entries and settings. Do not delete the current app before installing the update.

Privacy and devices

Private by default

Where is my data stored?

Your journal is stored on your iPhone. JourneyOn has no account system or developer-operated journal server, and the developer cannot view or retrieve your entries. Apple may include app data in device backups according to your Apple backup settings.

Does JourneyOn sync between devices?

Not in version 4.0. iCloud sync is not yet available. JourneyOn will not silently move the journal to cloud storage.

Does JourneyOn collect analytics?

No. Version 4.0 does not collect usage analytics and contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDK.

What can appear in notifications and widgets?

Reminder wording is generic by default. Widgets receive only a limited snapshot, not the journal database. Practice titles, predictions, notes, reflections, learnings, and your name do not appear in widgets. Showing a primary value name is an optional setting that is off by default.

How does App Lock work?

App Lock asks Apple’s Local Authentication system to verify Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. JourneyOn receives only whether authentication succeeded and does not receive your biometric data.

Safety and professional help

JourneyOn is not medical care.

JourneyOn is a self-guided reflection and educational tool. It does not diagnose, prescribe, provide treatment or medical advice, monitor users, or replace care from a qualified professional.

If you are unsure whether a practice is appropriate for you, pause and consult a licensed healthcare or mental-health professional who knows your circumstances.

Not for emergencies

JourneyOn is not monitored and is not designed for crisis or emergency support. If you may act on thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, contact local emergency services now.
